Marketing Strategy: While many hair care products tout natural ingredients, most if not all contain chemicals to create suds, cleanse and condition the hair. Artisun took the phrase natural quite literally and each of their 8 formulas contains only naturally derived ingredients. The challenge was to educate professional hair stylist on the benefits of 100% natural ingredients and to show which ingredients were in each formulation that performed essential tasks. The other challenge was to begin a cornerstone of the marketing program of not using the word shampoo, but cleanser as shampoo is a catch-all for both harsh consumer brands and salon lines. Finally, the brand wanted to position itself as a “green” line from ingredients to containers. This introductory catalog accomplished all those objectives successfully.
